I identify largely with my elaboration roots since my grandp atomic number 18nts on my moms side of the family were mostly calibrate. I was very close to my grandmother. Ever since my brothers and I were miniature we always called her Busia, which is Polish for grandma. My husbands family has deep Polish roots as well. Instead of the traditional turkey or ham for Christmas, they make an array of Polish dishes which everyone enjoys (at least until the bodge hits on the way home). For these reasons I chose to do my research idea on the Poles.
Polish immigrants came to America in waves; there were terce separate times when the Poles came across seas, each time bringing a diverse company for different reasons. The first group came to the United States between the 1880s and World War I. These immigrants are sometimes forgotten as during this time there was no Poland on the map. The land that makes up Poland today was then stop between three different countries, Austria, Russia and Prussia. These Poles were lower-class; many of them could non write and were not educated. They came to America with hopes of finding work. The next group of Poles came after the Second World War.
This group was educated and chose to transmigrate for safety reasons, as Poland had just suffered a great want during the war. The last wave of immigrants were also educated, some were very practiced in their professions.
