Walt Whitman

Most poets save up with rhyme and meter but this poet cute to be different so he decided to write in a totally different style from the normal. Walt Whitman is a better poet than Emily Dickinson because of his style that uses free verse, lists, and parallelism. Whitman is one of the greatest poets in America. When he first started poesy he was hated and dislike for being opposed to slavery. Ralph Waldo Emerson thought he was an excellent poet and adored all of his work. The poems are mostly about America, the common man, and nature. unmatched of his greatest accomplishments was the Leaves of Grass, a collection of 383 poems. His work stone-broke all poetic tradition of rhyme and meter which caused nigh sight to lash out at his work and level off to the point of burning it. He used free verse, which was poetry that had irregular meter and line length.
Free verse is a style that doesnt follow any of the rules of regular poetry. It makes poems easier to get wind and follow, where as some poems rhyme so much that you tin cant scan what is happening in the poem.
