Clarence Seward Darrow was born April 18, 1876Â March 13, 1938 was an american lawyer and guide member of the american elegant liberties union, best known for defend teenage thrill killers Leopold and Leob in their trial for murdering 14 course of study old Robert Bobby Franks 1924 and defending John T Scopes in the Scopes play trial in 1925, which he opposed William Jennings Bryan a statesman, notable orator, and 3 cadence presidential candidate. In 1894, however, he began what would be his primary career for the next 20 years - labor law. During that year he defended the Socialist Eugene V. Debs against an injuction act to break the workers strike Debs was leading against the Pullman Sleeping Car Company. Darrow was unsuccessful, though the injunction against Debs was finally upheld by the Supreme Court. Without a disbelieve Darrows most famous criminal trial was the 1924 Leopold-Loeb case, in which twain Chicago boys had wantonly murdered a youngster.
For the only time in his career Darrow insisted that his clients plead guilty, then turned his tending to saving them from the death penalty. He was successful in this, partially because he was able to introduce a great fix of psychiatric testimony supporting his theories of the determining influences upon individual acts.
