The United Nations is an international forum which aims to resolve conflicts peacefully. The security council is its almost powerful organ which authorizes military operations, imposes sanctions, mandates arms inspections. Given the ascendancy it enjoys, it is very important that the 15 member council should be as democratic and representative of the member states as possible.
