Thoreau and Emerson differences

Thoreau and Emerson shared a lot in common and so many essay a have been written to compare their similarities. Similarly, many essays have also been written to emphasize on the differences between the two and one such essay is the Thoreau and Emerson differences essay.

Thoreau tested the ideas of Emerson concerning nature by living at the Walden Pond where he discovered that the simplicity in physical aspects brings some level of deepness to the mind so of humans and to the souls of humans to its fullest potential and as this happens, the imaginations of humans gets uplifted to change occurring in the individuals’ lives.

Given that nature is ever changing, people must continue to search for explanations about the human life. Emerson was a world renowned in the mid-nineteenth century for his books and essays and his image as a leading though leader of those days was well established.

In addition to buying and reading essays such as nature, self reliance and the law of compensation, many of Emerson’s fans thought nothing of embarking on a journey that would take many hours or days to complete to Massachusetts to go see him face to face. Meanwhile, Thoreau, the other transcendentalist also made a considerable impact on the thought leader concept, over a period of time in a way that was more far reaching and pronounced than that of Emerson.

This is illustrated by the fact that Thoreau’s writing on civil disobedience is said to have influenced a number of great men such as Gandhi and Martin Luther king and many others in the latter nineteenth, twentieth and twenty first century.
