Westward Expansion

When North America was first being colonized, the settlers made their homes along the coast of the sea and the shores of the intimatelyby rivers. This was done because it made talk of with England possible. Even when America was becoming a country near settlers did not dare venture very removed from the ocean or connecting waterways. Everything of importance was by water. As the population unplowed growing, bit by bit community moved far from waterways, and early westward expansion began.
