Quinton Stevenson February 13, 2012 Eng 101 Analysis of Basquiats Cabeza While analyzing the picture ground by Jean- Michel Basquiat authorise Cabeza, I was initially shocked at the ostensibly ill-judged character thats being placed on display. cardinal would think that this is merely a crazy word picture do by an even crazier mechanic, however. Upon further and much in discretion analysis there were several things that stood out to me. My primary contemplation was to me the most obvious, the absence of a full chair followed by its all b deficiency wring and its topsy turby facial features. in that location is besides a noticeable insufficiency of limberness in the character. Lastly, the name Aopkhes is on the character as if it were a name tag to come upon him. It was quite obvious to me that this painting is far more than what meets the eye. There is a message that the artificer is trying to convey to the viewers, yet, unmatchable must look done eyes that cannot see in localise to grasp the neat meaning of this piece. It quickly became lite to me that that absence of a partitioning of the head was not to be taken from a physiologic aspect. I step as though this is more of a symbolic aspect if anything. The missing part of the head is meant to show a lack, and not of the obvious.
The lack that the piece speaks of is that of understanding and/or intelligence, ignorance. The character is apparently mindless to something, but what, I do not know. Even more obvious than the partial head, the modify of this character speaks volumes. Most feel that the colo r in a piece it comely that, color. I belie! ve quite the contrary. The color of the character symbolizes something more than just the obvious. The color moody represents two things in this piece. It represents a draw of people, which in this case is the African American or black if you will. It also represents the color of oppression, dark, racy and no light whatsoever.
