Such is the case of Shakespeares one-twelfth Night and the film Some Like it Hot. though at first glance the two seem to trade nothing other than the cross-dressing, disguise comedy which drives both, they actually address much more than their source of laughs. The disguises are a major(ip) part of both, but it is the way that both stories use the write up and comedic elements in the story which makes Some Like it Hot a natural descendant of Twelfth Night.
One of the tight fittingly important, and most obvious, pieces of both stories is the element of disguise and cunning. Joe and Jerry, like Viola, disguise themselves as members of the opposite sex at or near the beginning of their respective tales, due to some tragedy which lay them in such a delicate situation. The three protagonists tire out their disguises in order to move around a specific mull for which they could not otherwise take, Viola to serve the Duke Orsino, and Joe and Jerry to play in an all womens band traveling to Florida.
